Comprehensive Guide to Lookah Seahorse Coils & Tips

Lookah-Seahorse-Coils-Guide

The Lookah Seahorse series are well-known electric nectar collector dab pens that allows you to dip the heated tip directly into your wax container and inhale the vapor.

There are total 5 different type of seahorse heating coils/tips in the Seahorse series. These come in different construction styles, and are made from Quartz or Ceramic, allowing you to customize your dabbing experience.

So how do these 5 Lookah Seahorse coils compare to one another? what's the difference between them? Let’s take a look at the 5 coils at a glance:

1. Seahorse Coil Type I: Quartz

This is the First Generation Seahorse coil, made from quartz, 1.2Ω Resistance, which is designed for a clean hit and smooth taste.

Overall, The Type I Seahorse Quartz coil/tip offers a balanced hits with rich flavor. However, It is Fairly delicate & easier to damage, and doesn’t have the better cloud production than the other quartz coils.

2. Seahorse Coil Type II: Dual Metal Coils + Ceramic Rod

The Type II Lookah Seahorse Coils are made of ceramic rod with Double metal coils structure, 1.2Ω, focused on improving heating efficiency and vapor production.

You can dab more quickly with this coil, so it’s good for doing quick hits and big clouds. This coil is also better for harder concentrates like shatter or diamonds at higher temps. But it may has a metallic taste due to the exposed mttal coils.

3. Seahorse Coil Type III: Ceramic Tube

The Type III Seahorse Coil is made from ceramic with a tube-like design, 0.6 Ohm, but it is coil-less with No exposed metal wires compared to Type II seahorse coil.

The tube-like coil has a more contact surface and a larger airway that can produces bigger and flavorful vapor. People have said that this tip heats up faster and clogs less often.

4. Seahorse Coil Type IV: Porous Quartz

This Type IV seahorse Porous Quartz coil is designed to improve on the airflow and durability of the Coil I quartz coil.

The redesigned tip is stronger and the improved airflow gives it bigger clouds.

5. Seahorse Coil Type V: See through Quartz

The Type V Seahorse coil has a transparent quartz tube design so that you can see the vapor going into it. Best for softer concentrates like live resins and badders.

This coilis a combination of the Seahorse Coil I and Coil III. So It has a more even burn for better vapor production.

Compatibility

Keep in mind that all of these 5 coils/tips work with the Seahorse series and other lookah electric nectar collectors like Lookah Whale and Lookah Giraffe.

List of applicable models: Lookah Seahorse 2.0, Lookah Seahorse Pro Plus, Lookah Seahorse King, Lookah Seahorse Queen, Lookah Seahorse Max, Lookah Seahorse X, Lookah Whale, Lookah Giraffe.

Each coil here has a universal 510 thread connection, so they are easy to swap in and out.

Lookah Seahorse Tips Quartz vs Ceramic comparison

The most obvious comparison when choosing between Lookah Seahorse tips – is how Quartz tips differ to Ceramic tips. There are 2 ceramic tips on offer, and 3 quartz tips.

Looking solely at the comparison of the material – here’s how the ceramic and quartz tips compare to one another;

Quartz Coils: Known for quick heat-up times and preserving the pure flavor.

Quartz as a heating element is known to heat up faster than Ceramic. This means the tips are blazing red hot in just a couple of seconds, and ready to dip. The Ceramic tips take a little longer to heat-up.

The seahorse quartz coil tips are porous, and tend to release the richest flavor.

The drawback is that the porous quartz are quite fragile and easy to damage. This damage can come from pressing the tip too hard into your material. Or from everyday knocks and bumps.

If you’re delicately-handed and careful then this won’t be an issue. Make sure you dab the tip into the concentrate gently!

Ceramic Coils: Preferred for even heat distribution, pure flavor, and smooth hits.

Ceramic coils also don't alter the taste of concentrates. It allows you to have a clean dab and a pure flavor.

Ceramic is more robust than quartz (albeit not invincible). Since the ceramic is more durable than quartz, you’ll have to replace your coil less frequently – which can save you money in the long term.

In terms of delivery – Ceramic provides consistent even heat. Ceramic can also reach higher temperatures than quartz, making it the better option for harder wax.

Conclusion

These different seahorse coil options allow users to tailor their dabbing experience based on their preferences for heat, speed, and taste.

Generally speaking, There is no ‘best’ coil. Different Lookah electric nectar collector users prefer different coils, based on their own unique tastes.

If you still don't know which one is right for you, you can buy Type M-mixed coil pack, which have one of each type, so you can try them all.

Hope this article can help you make an informed choice!
